Medicaid

Photo At this point in her meeting with Samuel, Doris receives a phone call. She puts her caller on hold, and asks Samuel if he can wait, because the call should take only a moment. Doris explains that the caller is requesting information about Medicaid. She tells Samuel that while he is welcome to listen, she does not think he qualifies for this service. Samuel agrees to wait, and Doris shares the following information with her caller:

Basic Information

  • If your income and assets are very limited, you may qualify for Medicaid.
  • Most of your health care costs will be covered if you have Medicare and you qualify for Medicaid.

  • You can obtain the phone number of your state medical assistance office by calling 1-800-MEDICARE, logging on to www.medicare.gov, or looking in the Medicare & You handbook.
