Medigap (Medicare Supplement Insurance) policies are designed to fill
the gaps in the Original Medicare Plan and are sold by private insurance
companies.
Generally, if you are enrolled in a Medicare + Choice plan, you do not
need to purchase a Medigap policy. In fact, it may be illegal for an insurance
company to sell you a Medigap policy if you are enrolled in a Medicare
+ Choice plan. Medicare + Choice plans include Medicare Managed Care plans
and Private Fee-for-Service plans.
