Medigap Coverage

PhotoMedigap coverage falls into two categories, basic benefits and additional benefits.

Basic Benefits

All Medigap policies cover the following basic (core) benefits:

  • The Medicare Part A coinsurance amount
  • The cost of 365 extra days of hospital care
  • Part B coinsurance or copayment amount
  • The first three pints of blood each year
Additional Benefits

Some Medigap policies offer additional benefits that are not covered by the Original Medicare Plan. Examples include:

  • Routine yearly checkups
  • At-home recovery
  • Medicare Part B excess charges
  • Prescription drugs
