Module 3, Lesson B: Buying a Medigap Policy

PreviousNext

Medicare SELECT

Medicare SELECT is a Medigap plan that requires the beneficiary to use a network of providers. All of the standardized Plans A through J may be offered as Medicare SELECT policies, although not all plans are available in all states.

A Medicare SELECT plan may lower the cost of a Medigap policy through the use of a network of providers. If you enroll in a Medicare SELECT plan, you must use a provider in the network to get full insurance benefits (except in an emergency).

Sondra comments, "We would like to continue to use our own family doctors, so I don't think Medicare SELECT is for us. Are there any other options we should consider?"

The agent responds,"You may want to consider a plan that offers a high deductible. Let's take a look at this option."
