You dropped your Medigap policy to join a Medicare + Choice plan, Medicare SELECT policy, or PACE program but now you want to leave.

In order for you to have a guaranteed issue right to purchase a Medigap policy again, you must meet both of the following conditions:

  • This must be the first time you have been enrolled in a Medicare + Choice plan, PACE program, or Medicare SELECT policy; AND
  • You must leave the Medicare + Choice plan or PACE program or drop the Medicare SELECT policy within 1 year after joining.
Plan Options

You have the right to return to your former Medigap policy if the same insurance company still sells it. If the former Medigap policy is not available, you have the right to buy the Medigap Plan A, B, C, or F that is sold in your state.

Time Limit

You must apply for a Medigap policy during the period that begins 60 days before your coverage is discontinued and ends 63 days after your coverage is discontinued.
