Medicare provides health care coverage to some people with a disability who are under age 65. In 2002, 5.8 million Medicare enrollees were people under age 65 with a disability.

This lesson provides an overview of Medicare for people who qualify for Medicare coverage based on a disability. After completing this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Explain the Medicare eligibility requirements, enrollment process, and health plan options that are available to a person with a disability

  • Identify additional sources of information regarding Medicare coverage for a person with a disability
