Depending on when a person served in the military, and when he or she was hired for Federal civilian employment, that military service time:

  • May automatically be counted toward a Federal annuity.
  • May be counted toward a Federal annuity if the employee pays a military deposit to his or her Federal agency, to have that time counted toward the annuity.
