PhotoMedicare Prescription Drug Plans do not cover all drugs.

Covered drugs include:

  • Drugs that are available only by prescription and are:
    • Approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
    • Sold and used in the United States
  • Brand-name and generic drugs
  • Biological products, insulin, and supplies associated with injecting insulin.

Drugs that are not covered include:

  • Drugs excluded by the MMA law, such as:
    • Non-prescription drugs
    • Drugs for weight loss or weight gain, fertility, cosmetic, or lifestyle purposes
  • Note: Some plans may cover these drugs either at their own cost or by sharing the cost with enrollees
    • Drugs that are already covered for a person under Medicare Part A or Part B
