Medigap Open Enrollment

ImageWhen you buy a Medigap policy during the Open Enrollment Period, the insurance company cannot:

  • Deny insurance coverage
  • Place conditions on the policy
  • Change the price of the policy because of past or present health problems

The Medigap Open Enrollment Period lasts 6 months and begins on the first day of the month in which you are both:

  • Age 65 or older, AND
  • Enrolled in Medicare Part B

Sondra and Marvin will both meet these conditions later this year.

The agent reminds them about the advantages of purchasing a policy during their Open Enrollment Period. He adds that after their Open Enrollment Period ends, there is no guarantee that the insurance company will approve their applications and issue them policies. Once the Open Enrollment Period starts, it lasts for 6 months and cannot be started again.
