Welcome to the Guaranteed Issue Rights lesson.
Guaranteed issue rights give Medicare beneficiaries the right to buy
a Medigap policy outside of their Open Enrollment Period if they lose
or change their health coverage under certain conditions. These rights
are also called Medigap protections.
This lesson will provide you with an overview of guaranteed issue rights
and the circumstances in which they apply. After completing this lesson,
you will be able to:
- Identify and define guaranteed issue rights
- Identify the circumstances in which a beneficiary would have a guaranteed
issue right
- Advise beneficiaries of their options
