Medicare Coverage for Kidney Transplant Services

Photo Medicare covers the cost of services for a kidney transplant only if you are entitled to Medicare Part A and enrolled in Part B.

Medicare covers surgeon's services for both the patient and the donor. It also covers the immunosuppressive drug therapy that is necessary following a kidney transplant.

Medicare covers immunosuppressive drugs when you are entitled to Medicare Part A at the time of transplant and are enrolled in Medicare Part B at the time that the drugs are dispensed.
