On October 1, 2001, "TRICARE-for-Life" coverage became available to retired military and retired reserves, including former spouses.
TRICARE-for-Life coverage is free except for small co-payments for prescription drugs.
To join TRICARE-for-Life, eligible retirees must have Medicare Part A and Part B.
