ESRD Coverage Termination

Marjorie adds that if ESRD is the only reason you are entitled to Medicare, your coverage will end 12 months after the month you stop dialysis treatments or 36 months after the month you have a kidney transplant.

Your coverage will not end if you:

  • Start dialysis again or get a kidney transplant within 12 months after you stopped receiving dialysis, OR

  • Continue to get dialysis or get another kidney transplant within 36 months after a transplant
