The Social Security Statement

PreviousNext
A mailbox and a Social Security Statement

The best source for estimating a worker's benefit is his or her Social Security Statement. The Social Security Administration sends an annual statement to everyone age 25 and older who has worked under Social Security and does not yet receive benefits. Social Security Statements are mailed 3 months before the worker's birthday.

This detailed report shows one's lifetime earnings, and estimates retirement, disability, and dependent benefits that the worker and the worker's family might be eligible to receive.
