Employees working under CSRS Offset retirement provisions:
- Are covered by both CSRS and Social Security.
- Earn retirement credits under the relatively generous CSRS formula.
- Have the portability of Social Security coverage.
- Are adding to any Social Security benefits they have already earned.
If CSRS Offset-covered employees continue to work after leaving Federal employment, they continue to add to their Social Security benefits.
